{"primaryDescription":"<h2><strong>MPs to examine cosmetic procedures following WEC&rsquo;s call to ban liquid BBLs</strong></h2>\r\n<p>The Women and Equalities Committee (WEC) will hear from the President of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and the Director of&nbsp;Save Face during an <a href=\"https://committees.parliament.uk/event/28143/formal-meeting-oral-evidence-session/\">evidence session</a> to follow up WEC&rsquo;s<a href=\"https://committees.parliament.uk/work/9081/health-impacts-of-breast-implants-and-other-cosmetic-procedures/\"> inquiry</a> and <a href=\"https://committees.parliament.uk/committee/328/women-and-equalities-committee/news/211940/ban-liquid-bbls-and-high-harm-procedures/\">report on Cosmetic procedures.</a></p>","secondaryDescription":"<p>MPs on the cross-party committee will examine the ongoing risks associated with non-surgical cosmetic procedures and cosmetic surgery, more than a year after the Government announced plans to strengthen regulation.</p>\r\n<p>The session follows delays both in publishing the&nbsp;consultation&nbsp;on the restriction of the highest risk cosmetic procedures and the Government&rsquo;s&nbsp;response to the Committee's report which was&nbsp;due in April this year.</p>\r\n<p>Discussion is likely to focus on the impact of this, concerns around high-risk procedures such as liquid BBLs, and the growing evidence of harm and NHS costs arising from cosmetic tourism.</p>\r\n<p>WEC&rsquo;s February 18 report recommended &lsquo;high harm&rsquo; procedures such as the liquid Brazilian butt lift (BBL) should be banned immediately without further consultation.
