{"primaryDescription":"<h2><strong>Airlines to face MPs as Heathrow expansion inquiry continues</strong></h2>\r\n<p>The Transport Committee will hear from airline and airport representatives as it continues looking into the Government&rsquo;s blueprint for a third runway at Heathrow.</p>\r\n<p>The Committee is scrutinising the draft Heathrow Expansion National Policy Statement published by the Department for Transport in June 2026.</p>\r\n<p>The third oral evidence session will see MPs quizzing a five-strong panel featuring representatives of British Airways owner IAG and easyJet, which does not currently fly out of Heathrow.&nbsp;</p>\r\n<p>A subsequent panel will feature the chief executive of Edinburgh Airport, which is the 6th busiest airport in the UK.</p>\r\n<p>Witnesses are likely to be asked about the strategic aviation case for Heathrow expansion and what they want to see reflected in the HENPS.</p>\r\n<p>They could also face questions about demand for additional hub capacity, and what the likely effect on the sector would be of expansion either happening or not happening.</p>","secondaryDescription":null,"parliamentTvUrl":"https://parliamentlive.tv/event/index/87cf5f14-d930-4890-b4e9-9f863f8f7fbe","id":27740,"name":null,"startDate":"2026-09-09T09:15:00","endDate":"2026-09-09T12:00:00","cancelledDate":null,"locationId":3,"location":"The Thatcher Room, Portcullis House","eventType":{"id":6,"name":"Formal meeting (oral evidence session)","isVisit":false,"description":"Formal meetings may be held in private (for example to consider a draft report) or in public (for example to hear oral evidence), and require a minimum number of members to be present."},"eventSource":"CIS","committees":[{"contact":{"email":"transcom@parliament.uk","phone":null,"address":"Transport Committee, House of Commons, London, SW1A 0AA","contactDisclaimer":"We receive a significant number of emails each day.
