This will be the second and final session of the Committee&rsquo;s student loans and taxation of <a>graduates</a> inquiry.</p>","secondaryDescription":"<p>Jacqui Smith, whose full title is Rt Hon Baroness Smith of Malvern, will give evidence as the DfE Minister responsible for higher education. She will be joined by the newly-appointed Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Lucy Rigby KC MP.</p>\r\n<p>The Ministers may be asked for their reaction to <a href=\"https://committees.parliament.uk/committee/158/treasury-committee/news/213745/student-loans-more-than-52000-responses-to-treasury-committee-call-for-evidence/\">the findings of the Committee&rsquo;s survey</a>, which received more than 52,000 responses.</p>\r\n<p>Interest accrued on student debt, freezing of repayment thresholds and whether prospective students were given adequate information to understand the terms of their loans are all likely to be covered.</p>\r\n<p>On Tuesday 2 June, the Committee <a href=\"https://committees.parliament.uk/event/27412/formal-meeting-oral-evidence-session/\">heard the views</a> of experts and student advocate groups on the student loans system.</p>\r\n<p>Members of the Education Select Committee are also expected to attend the session.</p>","parliamentTvUrl":"https://parliamentlive.tv/event/index/844c1bbf-8d22-437c-89b4-40254705d918","id":27449,"name":"Student loans and taxation of graduates","startDate":"2026-06-10T13:45:00","endDate":"2026-06-10T16:15:00","cancelledDate":null,"locationId":10,"location":"The Grimond Room, Portcullis House","eventType":{"id":6,"name":"Formal meeting (oral evidence session)","isVisit":false,"description":"Formal meetings may be held in private (for example to consider a draft report) or in public (for example to hear oral evidence), and require a minimum number of members to be present."},"eventSource":"CIS","committees":[{"contact":{"email":"treascom@parliament.uk","phone":null,"address":"Treasury Committee, House of Commons, London, SW1A 0AA","contactDisclaimer":"We receive a significant number of emails each day.
