{"primaryDescription":"<h2>MPs to consider climate crisis in Latin America and role of private sector in climate finance</h2>\r\n<p>The International Development Committee continues its inquiry into the UK&rsquo;s international climate finance by hearing from people at the forefront of the climate crisis across Latin America.</p>\r\n<p>MPs will also question climate policy experts in the second session of the inquiry into the &pound;11.6bn commitment, which plays a crucial role in fulfilling the UK&rsquo;s obligations under the Paris Climate Agreement.</p>\r\n<p>In its 2023 ICF strategy, the UK Government outlined four priority \"pillars\" for the funding: clean energy; nature for climate and people; adaptation and resilience; and sustainable cities, infrastructure and transport.</p>\r\n<p>Witnesses on the first panel will provide valuable perspectives on the scale of the climate crisis and its impact in Latin America. They could be asked about how they have personally seen changes in climate and the effects on smallholder coffee farmers who rely on a narrow set of climatic conditions for production.</p>\r\n<p>MPs may also explore how climate shocks affect Indigenous Peoples and local communities' access to basic services and the extent to which climate finance currently reaches Indigenous Peoples, local communities and smallholder farmers directly.</p>","secondaryDescription":"<p>Witnesses on the second panel will be asked about the involvement of the private sector as a means of financing climate action and meeting global climate goals.</p>\r\n<p>The Committee will explore the importance of mobilising private sector investment to meet the UK's climate finance obligation.
